This Privacy Policy describes privacy practices for Slick Technologies LLC (“Slick,” “we,” or “us”) related to the collection, use, storage, and sharing of our customer’s (“You” or “Your”) information collected through Your use of Slick’s Mobile Application (the “Application”), website (the “Website”), or use of our hardware device(s) (collectively referred to herein as “Slick Service”). By using the Slick Service, You indicate that You have read, understand, and accept the practices and policies outlined in this Privacy Policy. (In addition, and as described herein, certain features of the Slick Service require your expressed consent.)
Services Available Through the Website or Application
The Slick Service is designed to allow You to use your device to remotely schedule certain vehicle maintenance services (such as an oil change), to obtain diagnostic information about Your vehicle (such as oil life remaining), monitoring and sending reminders regard Your service history and upcoming events, scheduling service, paying for jobs, providing feedback to us and our Service Providers, referring others to try Slick, and storing your vehicle’s specifications.
Application Registration/Authentication
In order to register, You must have a valid Slick username and password. You can create Your Slick username and password by opening an online account at the Website or by creating one within the Application.
You acknowledge and agree that You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of Your registration information and password. You may not share Your password with any other person or give any other person access to or use of Your password. You may not access any Slick account with another person’s account information. You may not use, or authorize any third party to use, Your password or any other person’s password in any program not distributed by Slick to access any Slick system.Information
Collection
When You register or use the Slick Service, we will collect certain information. This information includes:
Information Provided by You
We will collect and store any information that You provide to us when You register to use the Slick Service and that you provide while using the Slick Service. Such information may include, but is not limited to, Your name, preferred telephone number, email address, physical and billing address, selected username and password, credit card information, information about Your vehicle, including, but not limited to, Your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), the make, model, and year of Your vehicle, and the features of Your vehicle. Credit Card information is collected only for the purpose of transmitting it to our credit card processor and such information is not stored on our servers, unless you select the option to save the information in the Slick Application or Website for future use.
Slick may also collect information relating to Your use of the Slick Service such as how often, and when (via timestamp), You request a particular service. The location of Your vehicle may also be collected by Slick. Please see the section below entitled “Location Information” for more information.
Information Collected Automatically by the Slick Service
The Slick Service will also collect certain information automatically when You register or use Slick, including the type of device You are using, your Internet Protocol (IP) address, the type of operating system You are using, the type of browser You are using, the domain name of your Internet Service Provider (ISP), the unique identifier of Your device, and where applicable, the phone number associated with Your device. Slick may access information the Slick Service collects, or your any cookies stored on your computer or mobile device, and use this information for analytical or statistical purposes or as may otherwise be described in this Privacy Policy. We may also collect vehicle data and diagnostic information (such as diagnostic trouble codes, oil life remaining, tire pressure, and fuel economy) directly from Your vehicle to enable the functionalities within the Slick Service. For your convenience, the Application and Website will also collect and store information You have requested to be downloaded, such as your vehicle information and maintenance preferences. Third Parties
We may, from time to time, combine information we collect through the Slick Service with information that we collect from other sources (e.g., from your data providers, from your vehicle’s manufacturer, or from publicly available information).
Location Information
Device location – The Slick Service may collect information about Your device’s or computer’s GPS location that You provided voluntarily (such as by sharing Your ZIP or Postal Code) or as made available through the location features of Your device or computer. The first time You use such services, we will present You with an opportunity to consent to our collection of location information from your device. You may elect not to be presented with such a message each time You use location-based services. However, this will limit your ability to use certain features of our Services. Additionally, disabling our collection of precise location from your device will not limit our ability to collect your service location information from a Slick employee device nor our ability to derive approximate location from your IP address.
Your Choices Regarding Device Location Collection
Device location – You can restrict our access to, or collection of, Your device’s location by disabling the location features of Your device, by not using the functionalities of the device that require location information, and by electing to not use Slick’s hardware device(s).
Use of Your Information
We may use any of the information collected for a number of purposes, including:
To enable us to provide services to you through the Slick Service;
To determine Your eligibility relating to the Slick Service and their services;
To improve quality, functionality or usefulness of the Slick Service;
To measure and generate statistics and analytics about Your use of the Slick Service and its services;
To provide You with products, services or information You request;
To customize or personalize Your experience when using the Slick Service;
To send You notifications or alerts relating to the Slick Service;
To allow us to offer You new or additional products;
To provide You with information about changes to, or notices relating to, the Slick Service;
To prevent and detect fraud, infringement, and other potential misuse of the Slick Service; and
To maintain the integrity of our services and to address any security concerns.
Sharing of Information
We may share the information that we collect with the following:With third party providers to enable them to provide the Services you request, that require services provided, at least in part, by a third party, including but not limited to credit card processing. For example, we may share your name, vehicle information, location, and the service you requested with vehicle history reporting companies (i.e., Carfax) in order to obtain and maintain an active vehicle history for your vehicle; With the general public if you submit content in a public forum, such as blog comments, social media posts, or other features of our Services that are viewable by the general public;
Where Required for Business Transactions: We may share information if we, or one of our affiliates, is acquired by, sold to, or merged with another entity, in order to facilitate the transaction. We may also share this information if all, or part, of our business operations relating to the Slick Service is transferred to an affiliate or third party.
Where Required By Law or Permitted to Protect Our or Others’ Interests:
We may share information with third parties when required to do so by law, or where required or permitted by law to protect the safety of You or others, or our interests (e.g., to detect or deter fraudulent activity).
The sharing of information regarding the location or approximate GPS speed of Your vehicle is subject to additional restrictions as set forth in the
Slick Privacy Statement.
Use and Sharing of Anonymized and Aggregate Information
We may also de-identify Your information (so that it is no longer able to be associated to You) and use, share, or sell such de-identified information, in an anonymized or aggregate form, with any third party for any reason.
Social Media Services
The Slick Service may provide certain functionality or services that enable You to post or share information through a third party social media network, such as Facebook or Twitter. Any information that these third party social media services collect as a function of Your using such functionality or services is subject to those respective entities’ own privacy policies, which we encourage You to review.
Limiting Marketing and Promotional Communications
You may choose to limit the marketing and promotional communications we send You. You can do this by following the instructions in those communications. We will provide opt-out instructions in all of our promotional communication channels, for example, we offer an unsubscribe option at the bottom of all marketing-related emails.
Links to Third Party Websites
The Slick Service and Website may also contain links to websites or other Slick Services published by other content providers. These other websites or Slick Service are not under our control, and You acknowledge and agree that we are not responsible for the collection and use of Your information by such websites or applications. We encourage You to review the privacy policy of each website and application You visit and use.
Children
We do not use the Slick Service to knowingly solicit information from or market to children under the age of 13. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with information without their consent, he or she should contact us using the contact information below. We will delete such information from our files as soon as reasonably possible.
Data Retention
The Website and Application will store any information it collects for as long as is required for Your use of the Slick Service. Any user-provided information stored on your device will remain on the device until You uninstall the Application.
We may retain any other information collected by us, including automatically-collected information, in our server logs, databases, and records for the duration of Your use of the Slick Service and for a period of time thereafter for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. Please note that some or all of the information collected is required in order for the Website and Application to function properly, and we may be required to retain certain information by law.
Access Rights and Cancellation
Slick will comply with individual’s requests regarding access, correction, and/or deletion of the personal data it stores in accordance with applicable law. You may correct your account information at any time by logging into your online in the Website or in-Application account. If you wish to cancel your account, please email us at support@helloslick.com. Please note that in some cases we may retain certain information about you as required by law, or for legitimate business purposes to the extent permitted by law. For instance, if you have a standing credit or debt on your account, or if we believe you have committed fraud or violated our Terms, we may seek to resolve the issue before deleting your information.
Security
We have implemented reasonable physical, technical, and administrative measures to protect against the loss, misuse or unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction of the information we collect in accordance with this Privacy Policy. This statement shall not be construed as creating any warranty regarding such measures. Please be aware, also, that no information system is completely secure from “hacking” or other measures used by third parties to circumvent our security measures. Consent to the Processing and Transfer of Your Information
By using the Slick Service, You are consenting to our collection, use, and disclosure of Your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by us. By using the Slick Service, You also consent to the transfer to, and processing of, Your information in the United States and other countries where we have operations.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy from time to time and for any reason. We will notify You of any material changes to this Privacy Policy by placing a notice on Website and, where possible, on Your device and/or notifying You via email or postal mail. We encourage You to review the Privacy Policy regularly as Your continued use of the Slick Service will be deemed as Your acceptance of those changes. Changes to the Privacy Policy will become effective after thirty days from the published change.
Your California Privacy Rights
California law permits residents of California to request certain details about how their information is shared with third parties for direct marketing purposes. Slick does not share your personally identifiable information with third parties for the third parties’ direct marketing purposes unless you provide us with consent to do so.
